Walk through the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest
We started our day bright and early at the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. It wasn't even 8 AM and it was already packed! We spent about 15 minutes walking through it, taking selfies at a unique angle we saw others doing. It's a beautiful, serene walk, even with the crowds.

A famous, picturesque bamboo grove in Arashiyama, Kyoto. It's best to visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds, even before 8 AM it can be busy. It's a beautiful, serene walk through towering bamboo stalks.

Hike and feed monkeys at Arashiyama Monkey Park
After the temple, we made our way to the Arashiyama Monkey Park. The entrance was ¥800 per person, and it took us about 15 minutes to walk up the hill. The monkeys were so cute, and it was fun seeing them play with each other. For ¥100, you can buy peanuts to feed them from inside a cage, which is a unique experience. You also get beautiful scenic views of Kyoto from the top.

A gorgeous UNESCO World Heritage Site in Arashiyama. The entrance to just the garden is ¥500, and you can pay extra to go into the actual temple. We waited about 30 minutes for it to open, but it was definitely worth it.

A viral restaurant known for their gozen, traditional Japanese set meals. We had a very early lunch reservation here. Be sure to ask for the river view seats when you book! The set is ¥4,000 per person, and it's definitely worth it for the incredible presentation and delicious dishes.

- Gozen set meal · ¥4000 — The traditional Japanese set meal at Itsuki Chaya. The presentation was absolutely gorgeous, and every single dish was incredible. It included fresh sashimi, clam hot pot, a sukiyaki rice bowl, and much more. There's a 50-minute seating limit, so eat fast!

- Matcha soft serve — A matcha soft serve ice cream with a really strong tea flavor. It's good, but in my opinion, not as good as the one at Arabica, which has a stronger, slightly more bitter matcha flavor. Still, it's a delicious treat to enjoy by the river.
