Cat Spotting on Ogijima
- Nene-chan (heart-shaped pattern cat) — Our first cat sighting on Ogijima! This sleepyhead was found in the shade and is said to have a heart-shaped pattern around her waist. We hope to see it next time!
- Mei-chan (cafe regular cat) — A regular visitor to the Sunset & Cat House cafe, Mei-chan is very cute and friendly.
- Zu-chan & Tsuna-chan (lookalike cats) — These two lookalikes seem to be good friends and are quite talkative, like many island cats. Tsuna-chan even followed us around!
- Bibi-chan & Himeka-chan (black cats) — Two friendly black cats, part of the many named felines on Ogijima. Most cats on the island have names, and some even respond when called.
- Momo-chan (tuxedo cat idol) — The idol of her area, Momo-chan is a tuxedo cat who loves to roll over and greet visitors.
- Sen-chan (Shoyu Senbei-named cat) — Named after Shoyu Senbei (soy sauce rice crackers), Sen-chan is one of the many unique cats you can meet while walking around the island.
- Meru-chan (tourist-named cat) — Meru-chan was reportedly named by a tourist, highlighting the friendly interaction between visitors and the island's cats.
- Koro-chan, Gonta, and Kasa-chan (fishing port cats) — Koro-chan has a cute voice, Gonta is a brown cat, and Kasa-chan is a black cat. These three were found near the fishing port and are very vocal, like many Ogijima cats.
- Shirotabi-kun (gallery guide cat) — Shirotabi-kun, along with the cafe owner, guided us to the island's cat gallery. He's also best friends with Fence-kun.
- Fence-kun (Shirotabi-kun's best friend) — Fence-kun is Shirotabi-kun's best friend, often seen together calling out to visitors.
- Mimi-chan (popular harbor cat) — One of the most popular cats on Ogijima, Mimi-chan is very friendly and often comes out to greet people, especially at the harbor. You might meet her even on days with fewer cat sightings due to weather.
- Hana-chan (Mimi-chan's sister) — Mimi-chan's close sister, Hana-chan, was also spotted enjoying the last of the cat treats during the beautiful sunset.
- Dora-chan (cafe breakfast cat) — Dora-chan joined Mei-chan at the Sunset & Cat House for breakfast on a rainy morning, even though the cat patrol activity was canceled.
