Asahikawa Shoyu Ramen Battle
“These three shops are excellent starting points to explore the big and delicious world of Asahikawa Shoyu Ramen. Try them all!”
B1F- Shoyu Ramen — This is the classical bowl of Shoyu Ramen, without hidden bells and whistles unless you add toppings. It's lighter than Tonkotsu and Miso ramen, with just the right amount of oil for richness. They use wavy noodles that collect more of the salty soy sauce broth. It's an 'ol' faithful' bowl that hasn't changed in 14 years.
- Ajitama (half-boiled egg) — A delicious half-boiled egg that I can never pass up, available as a topping to enhance your ramen.
2Asahikawa Ramen AobaRamen restaurant · Asahikawa4.2Japan, 〒070-0032 Hokkaido, Asahikawa, 8 Chome−144 6 Asahikawa Ramen Aoba-honten, 2条 旭川二条通ビル 名店街- Shoyu Ramen — A perfectly balanced Shoyu soup with a simple chicken and pork base, light and salty. They use straight noodles and include a healthy piece of Cha-shu pork steak, along with a winking octopus on the Nori seaweed as a nice touch. The family feel of the place adds to the flavor.
3Ramen-ya Tenkin Shijo-tenRamen restaurant · Asahikawa4.2 (2,603)Closed · opens tomorrow 11 AMRamen-ya Tenkin, 9 Chome-1704-31 4 Jodori, Asahikawa, Hokkaido 070-0034, Japan
Creator's voice- Shoyu Ramen — The soup here has a lot of oil, which is said to keep the ramen hot for longer in Asahikawa's cold winters, acting like insulation. The taste is described as divine, with a galaxy of flavor swirling in the broth, reminiscent of Van Gogh's 'The Starry Night'.
- Gyoza — A side of gyoza ordered with the Shoyu Ramen.
