A summer Shirakawa-go and Takayama day return
Take the 08:00 bus from Kanazawa, ideally reserving in advance because it fills up. In Shirakawa-go, leave luggage at the hut behind the bus station, take the easier route to Shiroyama Viewpoint, and arrive early before the 10:00–15:00 group-tour rush. Allow about four hours rather than the creator’s three-hour stop, then take the bus onward to Takayama, spend roughly three hours around Takayama Jinya and the old town, and catch the last bus back to Kanazawa. The creator says the schedule is tight and recommends staying one night in Takayama if possible.
