Travel to Japan's amazing cat island! Healed by friendly cats🐈

Good morning! I started my journey at Takamatsu Station in Kagawa Prefecture, taking a train for about an hour to Tadotsu Station. Before heading to the port, I grabbed some snacks since there are no convenience stores on the island. The peaceful countryside scenery on the way was really calming. From Tadotsu Port, I boarded the ferry, which cost ¥1320, and enjoyed the sea breeze and scenic views as we headed towards Sanagi Island. It's a bit of a trip, but the anticipation of seeing the cats makes it worth it!

As soon as I arrived on Sanagi Island, I spotted cats everywhere! They're surprisingly friendly, even though they're wild. I brought treats and toys, and the cats immediately gathered around, especially for the popular Churu treats. It was pure happiness spending slow, gentle time with them, petting their fluffy fur and watching them jump for treats. They even followed me around, making me feel like the 'treat person.' It's an incredibly healing experience to be surrounded by so much feline affection.

After playing with the cats, I headed to Café & Hostel Nekonoshima, the island's only cafe, which is a beautifully renovated old school. The interior is very stylish, and they serve juice, alcohol, and a highly recommended, limited 10-serving chicken curry. I ordered orange juice and the chicken curry, which was authentic and incredibly tasty, with a perfect harmony of chicken and spice. It was so good I finished it in no time! Even here, cats were by the window and outside, enjoying their own lunch.

Beyond the cats, Sanagi Island itself has beautiful scenery, with many old houses that give it a historical vibe, some no longer inhabited. I tried exploring a bit, but a cat even blocked my path, as if guiding me! Later, I found another group of friendly cats and played with a toy wand, which they loved, smacking it like crazy. One even climbed into my lap! Even when the toy fell apart, they were still assertive about getting more treats, especially canned tuna. It's a truly unique place where you can't help but interact with these adorable felines.
