Teaching in a rural mountain community
- Welcome Petter banner — Upon arriving at one of the rural schools, a giant handmade banner unfurled from the rafters, welcoming me as 'Petter' (P-E-C-T-E-R) instead of Peter. It was a memorable, if slightly embarrassing, welcome.

Teaching English through drama to babies and fetuses
- Yum Yum Song — A song I had to teach to two-year-olds in a four-hour class, involving making 'O' shapes with my mouth and repeating 'yum yum yum yum yum yum yum.' It was a terrible piece of material that made me want to 'shoot me in my face.'
- Teaching colors to a fetus — A visibly pregnant woman insisted on taking my class, believing her unborn baby could learn colors. I would say a color like 'red,' and she would repeat it and feel her tummy, claiming the baby 'said it.' I found it insane and impossible.
- Wiggy Waggy Jelly in the Bowl — An educational warm-up activity where I would demonstrate shaking a baby doll while singing 'wiggy waggy wiggy waggy jelly in the bowl' to make kids feel comfortable. During one class, a baby pooped on its dad's face during this activity.
