Ride the Kurobe Gorge Railway
Board the cute orange train at Unazuki Station and ride it as far as possible into the Kurobe Gorge, all the way to Keyakidaira Station. The views are truly gorgeous, especially of the deep V-shaped gorge. Look out for the 'hito kui iwa' or 'man eating cave' rock wall along the way.

Traverse the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route to Murodo
Start your traverse of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route from Toyama Station. You'll take a train to Tateyama Station, then switch to a cable car, followed by a bus, a tunnel trolley bus, a ropeway, another cable car, and finally another tunnel trolley bus. Today, we're only going as far as Murodo, the highest point, where we'll spend the night. Even if you board the bus in the clouds, Murodo often breaks through them, revealing Mount Tateyama behind you.
