I came to Menya Rock On specifically for their Morishobaju, which is a rich, flavorful ramen. It took about 15 minutes to prepare, and the portion was huge! The broth is a unique blend of anchovy, fish powder, and olive oil, creating a deep, rich, and delicious taste that's hard to describe but absolutely satisfying. It's not spicy at all, just incredibly savory. The noodles are also fantastic, perfectly complementing the broth. It was a great start to my trip!

I took a bus using the free ticket from the airport to visit Mount Benten, which is famously Japan's lowest natural mountain at just 6.1 meters high. It's a quick climb, taking only about 15 seconds to reach the summit! At the top, there's a small shrine and a souvenir shop. You can even get a climbing certificate. The walk from the bus stop takes longer than the climb itself, but it's a unique experience and a great photo spot. You can also get here by train or boat.

After a long day, I was still full from lunch, so I decided to grab some yakitori, but ended up at a place called AJISEN. It didn't look like a chain and seemed delicious. I ordered a sashimi platter with 5 types of fish, which was less than 15,000 won, and a large draft beer. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, and the cucumber was crispy. It was a great meal, costing about 35,000 won for the sashimi, cucumber, and three beers.

I arrived at the Awa Odori Kaikan just after 7 PM to catch the main tourist attraction: the Awa Odori dance performance. The professional team performs at 8 PM. If you have time, it's definitely worth coming. The performance was very entertaining, and I even got to participate a bit. It was a lot of fun, and I left feeling energized and hungry!

After the Awa Odori performance, I was hungry, so I went to Domannaka, a restaurant and bar near my hotel. They're known for their chicken dishes and sashimi. The atmosphere was great, and Asahi Super Dry was the only draft beer available. I had a beer and some sake. They have daily special menus, and I tried their spicy onion dish, which was surprisingly delicious. The soy sauce seasoning was also very good. I also tried their Narutodai-ju, which was excellent. Last order is at 10 PM.

I took a bus from Tokushima Station to Naruto to see the famous whirlpools. It's crucial to check the tide schedule, as the whirlpools are strongest during high and low tides. Today, the strongest whirlpools were expected between 1 PM and 3 PM. I decided to visit the Otsuka Museum of Art first, have lunch, and then head to the whirlpools. From the Otsuka Museum, it's a short 200-meter walk to the boat pier. The boat ride was spectacular, offering a close-up view of the incredibly powerful water movements. You can't see this clearly from the observatory. It's truly a mysterious and amazing sight to see how the ocean moves like this.

I went to Tokushima Ramen Men-O Main Store, which was quite popular with a line of people. I ordered a regular-sized ramen with an egg, costing 750 yen. The ramen came quickly, and I added garlic, sesame, and spicy seasoning to the rich, thick soup. The meat wasn't typical pork but more like beef, and it was incredibly delicious. I even added more garlic. It was a very satisfying meal.

On my third morning, I decided to rent a bicycle to explore Tokushima, as it's a flat city and great for cycling. I found the underground bicycle parking in front of the Daiwa Roynet Hotel, to the left of Tokushima Station. The process was simple: fill out a form with your name and phone number. You can rent a bicycle for over 5 hours for about 4,500 won (3,000 yen deposit, payment after use). The bicycles are old but well-maintained, with gears. They provide a phone number for any issues like punctures or accidents. It's a convenient and affordable way to get around.

I rode my rented bicycle to Book Off Plus, which was about a 120-minute ride from the station (Google Maps estimated 45 minutes walking). As soon as you enter, there's a CD corner. I bought some CDs. This place is great for finding bargains, like beautiful beer glasses for 1,000 won, or anime figures for 500-1,000 yen. I found a cute Chiikawa doll for my daughter. They also have high-end items like Porter bags for 50,000-60,000 won and even Hermes bags. If you choose carefully, you can find really good items here. It's much better than spending money on crane games!

I came to AJISEN for lunch, looking for something warm. They have a unique menu, and I was recommended the Tai Nabe Gohan (sea bream hot pot rice) because sea bream and wakame are famous in this town. The set, including tempura and chawanmushi, was 1,200 yen. The dish was incredibly warm and delicious, with a rich fish aroma. It's a place that's already popular, and I think it will become a 'holy ground' for Korean tourists. The staff were very friendly, and I even met people from Tokyo and Kyoto who came specifically for this restaurant.

I took a bus to AEON Mall, as airport duty-free shops don't have such a rich selection. I headed to the local specialty corner on the first floor to buy snacks and souvenirs. There's a duty-free counter in the center where you can get a tax refund after purchase. They even have a portable tool that scans barcodes to check for sales and prices. On the second floor, there's a large Daiso (about 200 pyeong) and a Cocokara Fine drug store, both offering duty-free shopping. I bought some mask packs and two bottles of sake, including Awa Odori sake, which has beautiful packaging. Remember, if you consume items in Japan, they are not tax-free; they need to be packed and refunded in cash.

For my last evening, I went to Manmaru, a place I heard offered all-you-can-drink (nomihodai). I was worried it might not be available for a single person, but it was! They had a nomihodai for draft beer. I ordered kimchi fried rice because I was hungry, and then a platter of skewers including okra, eggplant, onion, mochi, pork, and minced meat. The skewers were delicious, especially the pork and minced meat. I also tried their french fries. The beer was perfectly chilled, and the meat was tender. I accidentally ordered three beers in a row, which was a lot, but I managed to finish them! It's a popular place, so reservations are recommended.
