Hiking the Torii Gates at Fushimi Inari
Our first stop was Fushimi Inari Taisha because it was kind of on the way to Uji. We originally wanted to wake up at 5 AM to avoid the crowds, but we slept in, so we only had about a half hour here. This was at 8:30 in the morning and it was already packed. If you want to experience the quiet beauty of the torii gates, you really need to go early.

A very cool Shinto shrine from the year 711, known for its thousands of vermilion torii gates. It's about a 2-3 hour round trip hike to the top. It gets very packed, even at 8:30 AM.

Playing Classic Nintendo Games
We made our way over to the Nintendo Museum. Tickets were via a lottery system, so I'd recommend having multiple people try because I wasn't able to get tickets, but luckily Adam was. If you grew up playing Nintendo, this whole experience will be very nostalgic. They had this whole gaming area, and it was so fun playing all the games. I remember my first ever gaming console was a pink Game Boy Advance.

Nintendo blind box keychain — Adam got one of these blind boxes and he regretted not getting more. We were hoping for either the Game Boy Advance or ideally the Game Cube. Either DS would be fine, Wii is kinda eh, whatever, Switch would also be fine. Just don't want the Wii U. He got the GameCube, the one he wanted most! That's crazy. If you've got a gamer in your life, this would be the perfect gift.

Matcha Tasting Flight
When I saw this matcha tasting flight, I knew we had to try it. We've got a tasting flight of matcha from light to medium to dark. They recommend having it at room temperature, but I think I would have preferred it hot. The medium one is really good, it's like a matcha Turkish coffee. I like it more than the first one, I think the first one's too light for me. I kinda like the medium the most, but it's very close, they're both really good. I think I like the darkest one. My favorite is the darkest one and Adam's favorite is the medium one. I love drink flights and this was very fun to try. I even bought some matcha to take home.

A unique matcha spot where they roast their own matcha. The main difference from hojicha is that the matcha powder itself is roasted, versus the leaves being roasted and then turned into hojicha powder. They offer a matcha tasting flight.

Roasted matcha latte — Adam got a roasted matcha latte which was incredible. It has a unique, rich flavor from the roasted matcha powder.
Dark roast matcha powder — I even bought some dark roast matcha powder to take home after enjoying the tasting flight. It's perfect for making your own roasted matcha drinks at home.
