Creator's voice- Golden Pavilion structure — A three-story structure situated on an artificial lake overlooking serene gardens. The second and top floors are covered with brilliant pure gold leaf, reflecting in the tranquil lake on sunny days to create an illusion of a six-story structure. Each floor is designed in a different style, representing distinct functions and historical periods.
- First floor (Shinden style) — The first floor is built in the Shinden style of a Heian period aristocratic mansion, characterized by natural wood, white plaster walls, and hinged lattice-work windows that can be swung open to expose the interior to the beautiful landscaped garden and lake. It's designed to seamlessly blend nature with luxury, offering majestic scenery that changes with each season.
- Second floor (Buke style) — The second floor is in the Buke style, reflecting samurai residences, which were simpler and more practical. Both its exterior and interior are covered in gold leaf, symbolizing the Shogun's power and wealth even in retirement. It features an L-shaped plan with a balcony, used for observing the gardens and as a moon-viewing platform.
- Top floor (Chinese temple style) — The top floor is designed in the style of a Chinese temple, square in shape, and also covered in pure gold leaf on both its exterior and interior. A Golden Phoenix perches atop the roof. This room originally functioned as a temple, housing a statue of Amida Buddha surrounded by 25 Bodhisattvas, bringing Amida's descent from the Western Paradise to life.
- Lakeside gardens — The temple is surrounded by gorgeous gardens and an artificial lake, offering changing views of the Golden Pavilion with each step you take along the garden paths. The serene landscape complements the golden structure, creating a peaceful and enchanting atmosphere.
