A deep, steep gorge stretching approximately 8km upstream of the Yoshino River, designated as a national natural monument. It features strangely shaped rocks eroded over 200 million years, offering beautiful scenery in all seasons. The name 'Koboke' (small steps) comes from the danger of walking along the river in short strides.

Hiking to Sanno Todoroki Waterfall
I ventured to Sanno Todoroki Waterfall, a small, quiet waterfall surrounded by moss-covered rock walls, creating a mysterious world. There's no detailed information about it, and getting there is quite a journey. You can't drive past a certain point on Prefectural Route 32, and the walk down to the stream is very steep and slippery, so proceed at your own risk. Once you reach the stream, you're overwhelmed by the beauty of the valley and the 10-meter-high rock walls. It's a truly dynamic and beautiful experience, completely different from what you see from above, and worth the effort if you're careful.

- Encounter Bridge Corner Room — A spacious 10-tatami mat corner room, the only one available for my last-minute booking. It features a ceramic open-air bath, a rarity as the inn doesn't have a public bath, so each room has its own. The room is large enough to comfortably open a suitcase, and comes with tea, Sudachi tea, tabi socks, body towels, bath towels, and yukatas. There are also plenty of outlets and about 5 USB ports, which is incredibly convenient.
- Private Open-Air Bath — A private open-air bath in your room, offering luxurious views of the valley. The spring water is clear, colorless, with a faint sulfur scent, and is a simple sulfur cold mineral spring with continuous flow, no circulation filtration, no bath salts, and no disinfectants. You can adjust the hot spring temperature yourself, and it automatically stops after 20 minutes. It's incredibly satisfying to soak while a cool breeze comes in, especially at night when you can see the stars.
- Kind Staff — The staff, particularly the waitress (Nakai-san), was extremely kind and had a wonderful personality. Their excellent service significantly enhanced the overall experience, making the stay truly memorable.
- Plum Wine Aperitif — A delightful plum wine served as an aperitif, presented in a cute dish with a rabbit design.
- Amago Sashimi — Fresh amago sashimi, surprisingly boneless and very fatty, tasting like river fish. The body was still warping, indicating its freshness. The skin was expertly removed, leaving the distinctive spots. It's a delicious dish to enjoy while surrounded by nature.
- Soba Rice Zosui — A local specialty, 'Soba Rice Zosui,' which is not made with regular rice but with soba rice. It's incredibly delicious, with a unique texture and taste completely different from rice, and a flavorful soup stock.
- Salt-Grilled Sweetfish — A large, delicious salt-grilled sweetfish. It's served hot and perfectly cooked, with a slightly charred exterior that enhances its flavor.
- Boar Pot with Homemade Konnyaku — A hearty boar pot featuring homemade konnyaku made from konjac potatoes.
- Dekomawashi — A local cuisine dish, 'Dekomawashi,' served with a slightly sweet miso. The creator suggests it might be even better if slightly charred to make it more fragrant and delicious.
- Sweet Potato and Oba Tempura — Tempura made with fried sweet potatoes and Oba leaves. It instantly melts in your mouth and is incredibly delicious.
- Kogomi (Ostrich Fern) — A dish featuring 'Kogomi' (ostrich fern), noted for its lack of bitterness and delicious taste.
- Miso-Flavored Boiled Dish — A boiled dish with a gentle miso flavor, served with rice and pickles.
- Pickles with Mountain Jellyfish and Red Plum Sauce — Pickles topped with 'mountain jellyfish' and a red plum sauce, adorned with delicate cherry blossom petals. The presentation is extremely detailed and amazing.
- Zaru Soba — Cold Zaru Soba noodles, served even after a substantial meal. The creator found the soba delicious, noting the presence of a soba restaurant next door.
- Bavarois and Apple Compote — A dessert consisting of bavarois and apple compote, providing a sweet end to the meal.
