I spent a night at this ryokan, and honestly, when I first entered, I felt a bit spooked by its dark and ominous atmosphere. I figured it was just part of the traditional vintage experience, and the host was incredibly kind and spoke good English, so I couldn't complain. Everything was great until 3 AM when I was violently woken up by what sounded like drums and footsteps. I tried to ignore it, but couldn't, so I put in my AirPods. The next morning, the host explained the drumming was just rain hitting the traditional rooftops, but that doesn't explain the footsteps outside my room or the man with musical instruments in my dream. If you've experienced hauntings, you might understand.
