Chūson-ji is a Tendai Buddhist temple in Hiraizumi, Iwate Prefecture, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It encompasses the main temple and 17 sub-temples within its grounds. The main hall, rebuilt in Meiji 42 (1909), is the central building where many traditional Buddhist ceremonies are performed. Historically, the temple complex once boasted 40 halls and pagodas, and accommodations for 300 monks. It is a place where the wishes for peace of the Oshu Fujiwara clan began.
