Onsens are traditional Japanese hot springs baths, filled with natural water. It's incredibly relaxing and great for your health, a part of everyday life in Japan. You should never wear a swimsuit to an onsen, like ever! Onsens are nude-only. If you feel shy, you can book a private onsen, but honestly, baths are separated by gender, and nobody will care about you. Also, never enter without washing yourself first. I mean properly washing! Sit down at the shower station, scrub everything, rinse, and only then can you enter the bath. This is a strict rule.
