At SUGINOYA Sennin mura, you can make your own chopsticks using Yakusugi, ancient cedar trees over a thousand years old. First, choose your favorite pair of raw chopsticks, with prices starting from around 1980 yen (10 pounds). Then, carefully shave down the tips and sand them smooth. The staff will even help you with the finishing touch, carefully wrapping your handmade chopsticks for you. It's a beautiful souvenir and a unique experience on Yakushima.
